Plex on the NVIDIA SHIELD TV gets DVR support

0

NVIDIA SHIELD TV owners are getting some nice functionality for their Plex Media Server today. The app gains DVR functionality, which means you can record live content being played over-the-air. DVR recordings can be set using any standard web browser, too.

The feature arrives inside the beta version of the Plex Media Server app, so you won’t be able to get it right away if you prefer the stable channel. Other caveats include the need for a Plex Pass ($5 per month), as well as the need for a home tuner kit (NVIDIA recommends these products) that’s hooked up to your network with a digital antenna.

It’s a bit clunky, but if you want to combine the best of TV with your cord-cutting needs, this is a pretty nice way to do it. Head here for the beta if you’re interested.
