Twitter introduces new apps for live streaming video on the Amazon Fire TV and more

0

Twitter has just announced it will be releasing a new application that will allow users to stream live premium video content. The app will come to the Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and the Xbox One and will be available for free.

The app will feature any live streaming video that is available on Twitter and will include NFL Thursday Night Football games, content from MLB, NBA, and more. Users will also be able to view other Twitter content including top Tweets and top Vines/Periscopes.

“These devices will bring Twitter’s live streaming video experience to life on the TV screen. Twitter has always been a great complement to TV, and now fans can enjoy even more premium video with live Tweets — and the best content on Twitter — right from their TVs. We’re excited to introduce this new experience to people, without requiring a paywall or having to log in to Twitter.”

– Anthony Noto, chief financial officer at Twitter

The new Twitter app will be available for download starting today for the Apple TV, Xbox One and Amazon Fire TV or the Fire TV Stick. Users will not have to pay for a TV subscription and don’t even need a Twitter account to take advantage of this new service.
