Remember the Alcatel Idol 4S? US pre-orders begin this Friday for $350

Remember the Alcatel Idol 4S? The more premium version of Alcatel’s smartphone lineup, we gave you guys a hands-on look at the phone back during Mobile World Congress last February. Yup. That was almost 5 months ago, but the phone is finally gearing up for its US debut where it will be available for pre-order this Friday, July 15th at the introductory price of $350.

That’s not too bad for what’s being offered. Everyone who pre-orders the Alcatel Idol 4S will get a free VR headset/box and although specific details weren’t revealed, Alcatel will also have special financing offers as low as $37 a month for those looking to do payments. Although the Idol 4S doesn’t feature flagship level specs, it’s still a pretty good value. Here’s the skinny on the hardware:

Alcatel Idol 4S

  • 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display
  • Snapdragon 652 processor
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB storage
  • 16MP/8MP cameras
  • 3,000mAh battery
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow (with update to Android 7.0 Nougat in the future)

If you’re thinking about buying, you’ll have to act fast. After August 3rd, the price of the phone will jump up to $400, pitting the Idol 4S directly against other well-priced competition like the phenomenal OnePlus 3. Convincing consumers to spend just as much money on a less powerful Android might prove a tougher sell than Alcatel was expecting.
