Nintendo looks to expand in the mobile market with controllers for our mobile devices

0

During Nintendo’s yearly shareholders meeting, the company discussed its plans for the future, which has a very large focus on the mobile market. The company released its first mobile app, Miitomo, has been met with mixed reactions and has quietly gone to the wayside. However, Miitomo is not Nintendo’s only planned mobile game, and that’s where the company believes it can capitalize.

Physical controllers for smart device applications are available in the market and it is possible that we may also develop something new by ourselves. I believe Nintendo’s way of thinking is to look at whether action games are really not impossible (without a physical controller for smart device applications) to create and how we can make it happen to create such a game.

-Shinya Takahashi, General Manager of Entertainment and Development

In addition to releasing new games, Nintendo is looking at ways to improve controllers for our smartphones and tablets. The company is also looking at ways to introduce and trial new styles of games, versus just releasing a cookie cutter game and calling it a day.

There have been no other rumors suggesting what types of games Nintendo will be releasing, but we do know that the company is expected to release four more mobile games by March of 2017. Here’s to hoping that we can get an awesome throwback Nintendo controller alongside one of the new games.
