Download This: Flamingo is a new Twitter app from the creator of Weather Timeline

If you’re an avid Twitter user, you’ve probably tried out many different Twitter apps. Most of the 3rd-party apps are much better than Twitter’s own official app. Twitter countered this by locking down their API and cutting off certain features from developers. This hasn’t stopped developers from creating great Twitter apps. The latest is from the developer of Weather Timeline.

Sam Ruston took his great Material Design from Weather Timeline and injected it into a Twitter app. Flamingo is simple, colorful, and customizable. Twitter recently rolled out a “Material Design” face-lift for the official app, but Flamingo is what real Material Design looks like. It has smooth animations and all the elements you would expect in Material Design.

One of the coolest tricks is colors that adapt to what you’re looking at. Profile pages are colored to match profile photos, and quoted tweets that include images are colored to match the image. The entire app can be themed to your liking and an automatic Night Mode feature will save your eyes late at night. Flamingo utilizes a few 3D Touch-like long-press gestures to peek at things like photos, profiles, and tweets.

There are a few excellent 3rd-party Twitter apps already available for Android. Flamingo has immediately made a case for being included among the best. For a beta app that has only been available for a week or two, Flamingo is surprisingly packed with features. We can’t wait to see where the app goes from here.

Flamingo has immediately become one of our favorite Twitter apps. It has a beautiful Material Design with fluid animations and a bright and colorful UI. The app is in beta right now, but it’s getting new features almost daily. It costs $0.99 and you won’t have to pay for it again when it leaves beta. Ditch the official Twitter app and give something new a try.
