Samsung is under fire once again for infringing upon patents. This time, however, the lawsuit is coming from Huawei, and it has nothing to do with design. Huawei alleges that Samsung has infringed upon patents related to 4G technology and software.

Huawei has filed lawsuits in the United States and China seeking compensation for what it said was unlicensed use of fourth-generation (4G) cellular communications technology, operating systems and user interface software in Samsung phones.

This might not be as sexy of a case as the Samsung vs Apple suits, which dragged on for a long time. These patents are still important nonetheless. Huawei’s goal is to license the patents out to Samsung and make a lot of money in the process. We’ll have to wait a while before we see how this case plays out.
