Nexus owners can now download Android OTA files directly from Google

0

In an effort to give its Nexus customers the latest software update as soon as it’s available, Google has just launched a new site which hosts the latest Android OTA update for all supported Nexus devices. Google has allowed users to download Android factory images for its Nexus devices for some time, but installation required a Nexus device with an unlocked bootloader. By making the OTA updates available on its site, users can download the latest file and install it with a few simple adb commands in recovery.

If you’re not willing to wait around the next time Google releases an Android update for your Nexus device, simply head over to Google’s OTA update page, download the build for your phone or tablet and install it yourself. The site even walks you through all the steps to install the OTA update on your device. It’s still a manual process, but it’s a lot more convenient for Nexus owners who don’t want to hassle with unlocking the bootloader on their device.
