Honor surprised us with a quick announcement ahead of a reveal event for the Huawei Honor V8. Today we get our official look at the Honor 5C, a mid-range darling that could have a more entry-level price tag. Here’s a quick rundown of what we’re working with for hardware:

  • 5.2-inch 1080p IPS LCD display
  • Octa-Core Kirin 650 chipset with Mali-T830 GPU
  • 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage
  • `13-megapixel f/2.0 rear camera, 8-megapixel front camera
  • Dual-SIM, microSD, fingerprint scanner, FM Radio
  • 3,000mAh battery
  • 147.1 x 73.8 x 8.3mm, 156 grams

Other devices in the market with similar hardware goes for upwards of $300, but Honor is looking to start this thing at the equivalent of $140 in China. That only gets you a 3G-only model, mind you, but a 4G-equipped model costs just $15 more.

Of course, pricing will vary by market, but Honor hasn’t yet detailed any plans outside of China so we’ll have to wait and see how the price fills out elsewhere. That said, it sounds like it won’t be too expensive, and with that type of hardware we’d say folks like Motorola have something to be worried about.
