Google lets you customize Nexus cases with a picture for $35

It’s finally here. A couple of years ago, Google was rumored to be launching cases for the Nexus 5 which you could customize with your own photos, or with a section of a map of your favorite place. That never panned out for the Nexus 5.

But it did for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Nexus 6. Google today revealed the feature as Live Cases. The concept is simple: customize a case with your favorite photo or a section of a map from Google Maps.

It’s nothing we haven’t seen from other case manufacturers, but Google is taking it a step further by giving you a live wallpaper to match the photo you choose. For instance, the Map case will have a live wallpaper of the map in whichever place you currently exist. The Photo case will have a wallpaper showing photos from a customizable gallery.

The case also has a button that can quickly launch your favorite app with just 1 touch. Neat stuff, it is. The going price for a Live Case is $35, and shipping is free (though you’ll have to wait anywhere from 4 to 6 days for it to leave the warehouse). Find it at the Google Store right here.
