We still have quite a bit of time before Kingdom Hearts 3 is officially released and if you’re looking to kill some time until then, Kingdom Hearts Unchained X is now officially available for Android. Technically, it launched in back in September of last year but only for Japan — and was available as a browser game back years before that — so this is the first time North American Android users can finally enjoy it on their devices.

Kingdom Hearts Unchained X

The 8th the eighth installment of the franchise, Kingdom Hearts X — now known as Unchained X — is a prologue in the series, telling a story of what lead up to the Keyblade Wars. It’s presented in a unique, pop-up story book visual style, one that fits perfectly on mobile. Gameplay is a bit different from previous titles, with a turn-based battle system that revolves around collecting cards (medals) and using them in battle to gain even better, more powerful cards. Players can go it alone, or team up with other players to take down powerful bosses. Here’s what we’re looking at:

  • Battle against the Heartless using your legendary Keyblades. Tap to attack, swipe to hit multiple enemies, and flick medals to unleash their special abilities.
  • Strategize to defeat enemies in fewer turns for greater rewards by using your special attacks and finding the right balance of power, magic, and speed medals.
  • Customize your hero by changing your avatar’s outfits to match your style of fashion. Be on the lookout for outfits based upon popular Disney, FINAL FANTASY and KINGDOM HEARTS characters, as well as seasonal clothing!
  • Collect and evolve hundreds of character medals, which contain the harnessed power of popular Disney and FINAL FANTASY heroes and villains.
  • Team up with friends to challenge and take down monstrous Heartless raid bosses for even greater rewards!
  • Survive the challenges in the Olympus Coliseum, where the strongest heroes can brave additional bosses and unlock the rare medals.

According to Square Enix, the initial download size on the Google Play Store starts off as 700MB, but when all is said and done, Kingdom Hearts Unchained X will require a full 1.1GB of space on your phone’s internal storage if you’re looking to play. Knowing that, you can find the download link below.
