Like it or not, virtual reality doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. At least not yet. In yet another push to help make the platform more enticing for the everyday-man, Microsoft and Oculus have announced a new version of the hit title Minecraft, built entirely around VR. This virtual reality Minecraft will be compatible with both the Samsung Gear VR and Oculus Rift, taking the sandbox adventure game to the next level of 3D immersion.

A Microsoft spokesperson apparently confirmed the news during GDC 2016 and although details are scarce, we’d expect the port to deliver relatively the same experience across both headsets. With the Samsung Gear VR being the more affordable of the 2 headsets, it sounds like the perfect match for casual virtual reality gaming like Minecraft. No solid release date for the port was given, but it’s looking like it will arrive later this year. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
