Android Auto will be in as many as 40 different car models this year

Android Auto is gaining a lot of steam, and Google probably couldn’t be happier. The company revealed that Android Auto will be installed in over 40 different car models as standard this year, and that isn’t including adoption of in-dash units that could be sold by third-party audio system manufacturers like Pioneer and others.

Of course, it still has a long way to go to match Apple’s reach. Apple has worked to get CarPlay support in many manufacturers’ top vehicles, and have already secured over 100 different car models for it to appear in on an annual basis. That should naturally change over time, though, as more and more Android users demand a similar system in their cars. Android does own more overall market share than Apple’s iOS, after all, so it’d be silly for a manufacturer to not have the 2 systems living in harmony.
