The Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact are available unlocked in the US February 7th

Sony has confirmed that they’re bringing the Sony Xperia Z5 and Sony Xperia Z5 Compact to the United States. The flagship phones will arrive this February — the 7th to be exact — and will be available at the likes of B&H, Amazon and Best Buy.

xperia z5 and compact

The Sony Xperia Z5 is Sony’s baseline model for 2015. It was the first from the company to include a fingerprint scanner, has a very nice, sleek design, and is pretty powerful. The Compact version of that phone is the same — it’s just smaller (which is great news for those who like smaller phones without having to compromise premium features).

The devices will cost $499 for the Xperia Z5 Compact and $599 for the regular model, which aren’t bad prices for all you’re getting. Unfortunately they don’t quite reach the heights of the Xperia Z5 Premium with its 4K display, but they can still hold their own. And because Sony is going to sell these unlocked it’s probably safe to say they won’t be offered through many carriers, so if you’re holding onto an upgrade in hopes that your carrier will eventually sell it then it’s probably time to start looking at other options.
