Samsung Pay now supports gift cards, transportation payments

0

If Samsung Pay wasn’t already positioned as the most dynamic mobile payments platform around, then recent additions to the service should solidify that. The company has introduced support for both transportation payment and gift cards.

The former is launching in their home country of South Korea first, with Cashbee and T-Money platforms being supported for the region’s transportation network. You’ll be able to load your transportation cards onto your phone just like anything else, and use it at the payment terminal for easy access to your “ride.”

Gift cards, on the other hand, are coming to many different global brands. There are more than 50 on board for the early going — including Babies”R”Us and Toys”R”Us, Bass Pro Shops, Domino’s, eBay, GameStop, Nike, Regal Entertainment Group and Staples — and Samsung is sure to add more over time. What’s really cool is that you can also buy a gift card right inside Samsung Pay, whether you’re buying them for yourself, your friends or your family members.

This, folks, is mobile payments done over the max. Apple and Google might want to take notice.
