Well, that didn’t take too long, did it? It’s one of the many benefits you get when you buy your phone unlocked and starting today, owners of the Motorola Moto X Pure Edition will soon get their first taste of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Keep in mind, the update is only being pushed out on a select few carriers to start: Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular. If you’re using the phone on any other carrier, it seems you’ll have to wait a little longer (networks optimizations and all that).

Motorola’s own David Schuster revealed the good news in a Google+ post, where he says Motorola has also started soak testing Marshmallow for the Motorola Moto X Play in Brazil and India, and the Motorola Moto X Force in Brazil (also known as the Droid Turbo 2 in here in the states).

In the meantime, Motorola will continue work on bringing Marshmallow to all the devices they previously announced in their original blog post. Stay tuned!

Thanks, G!

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.
