Android 6.0 bug might produce washed out colors on the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Nexus Player

A nasty bug has been annoying the ever living hell out of folks who own the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Nexus Player. The bug causes the display of those devices to appear washed out whenever video playback begins. The bug reportedly presents itself no matter what the video source is.nexus-player-hero

For the Nexus Player, Google says it’s a widespread problem that affects any device that’s been updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. For their part, they at least confirmed they’re aware and are working fast to resolve it. We’re not sure how long it’ll take for the fix to arrive, but considering Google marked the issue as high priority we’re confident it won’t take too long.

As for the phones, Google says that while the issues are similar, it’s not exactly as widespread and clear cut in terms of who’s affected, and that it’s caused by an entirely different underlying cause. Thankfully Google has already started testing fixes for those and expects them to be in the next maintenance upgrade, which should happen within a month (if not even sooner).

Unfortunately there are no known workarounds for the bugs just yet, so if you’ve been impacted by this issue then it’s best to just sit tight and wait for the updates to roll in. If nothing else, at least now you know that it’s not just your eyes going bad.
