We could see HTC’s first smart watch land February 2016

HTC has been one of the only major OEMs left out of the smart watch arena, but they might not be for long. A new rumor suggests the company’s first smart watch will arrive in 2016. According to the leakster — whom you may know as extremely reliable — the device will arrive under HTC’s One brand, which could suggest that they’re looking to bring a traditional smart watch (Android Wear, anyone?) over something like the fitness band they’re doing with Under Armour.

Unfortunately there were no other details to go along with this rumor, so it’s tough to say what the exact plans are. We’re quite surprised HTC doesn’t already have a leg in this market considering the company has taken stabs at more risky ventures. The Re Camera and their Vive virtual reality headset immediately come to mind in that regard.

Whatever the company is working on, we’re sure it’ll give some reason to take notice. They love design, so it’s safe to say it likely won’t be ugly. What else could they do to differentiate themselves from the rest of the pack, though? Boomsound speakers? That’d be something. Let’s just hope whatever they’re doing won’t be delayed for the umpteenth time like their Grip fitness wearable has been.
