Google Play Books, while a great way to read your favorite novels on your Android devices, wasn’t always that well suited for comic books. Rolling out in the coming days, Google Play Books will introduce a new, more comic book-friendly features for graphic novel fans.
The first new addition is the ability to scroll vertically in landscape mode. The new reading format should help when viewing content as you wont have to be constantly adjusting the view with every new page. Google is also adding new curated pages with comic recommendations, organizing everything by issue, volumes and editions to quickly find what you’re looking for.
According to Google, it’s their first big update that focuses directly on the comic book reading community. You’ll find most of the big name publishers on Play Books which include everyone from DC Comics, to Marvel, Image, IDW and Dark Horse. The update will hit the Google Play Store for the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, India, Singapore, Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa in the coming days, with the iOS update to follow shortly after that.
UPDATE: To help get you up and on your way, Google is giving away 44 free comic books to celebrate the new update. Hit up the link here.
