Blackberry Priv won’t get Android 6.0 Marshmallow this year

0

Folks looking to pick up the Blackberry Priv today will have to live with the fact that the device will be without Android 6.0 Marshmallow for quite some time. Blackberry has come out to confirm that the device won’t be getting the upgrade until after the New Year.

That’s not a whole lot to put faith in, of course — “after the new year” could mean sometime in 2020, for all we know — so set your expectations for the least amount of disappointment.

This news is a bit hard to swallow, and also a bit strange after Blackberry’s big boasting session about bringing out quick updates. Of course, that promise only applied to monthly security patches — no one ever said they had to be held to that same standard for full OS upgrades. If you were planning to buy a PRIV today, has this changed your mind? Let us know straight ahead!
