Nexus 5X prototype gets handled on video ahead of today’s announcement

We’re just hours away from today’s announcements by Google in San Francisco, and we have a pretty good idea of what to expect. The picture will get even clearer in the moments leading up to the big reveal.

A new hands-on video of the Nexus 5X has popped up online, making it the first time we see the thing handled on video. It doesn’t show anything we hadn’t already gotten a good look at in leaked renders and in-the-wild shots, but it’s nice to see it in the flesh and in full motion.

The video shows a device that doesn’t look quite that refined, but it’s worth pointing out that this is a prototype. It’s possible that all of the screws weren’t 100% present or that this was one of many revisions leading up to the final design. Even if it were a prototype, it does look quite decent and solid from our vantage point.

One will be quick to point out the healthy amount of bezel sitting below and above the display, but it really doesn’t look that bad, especially considering that there has to be some sort of space on the front for those forward-facing speakers. That said, HTC has shown that you can get a pretty slim bezel with quality speakers on the front so we understand if some of you aren’t as forgiving.

As usual, though, we won’t pass any judgment until we’ve been able to handle the thing for ourselves, so stay tuned for hands-on coverage from all of today’s goings-on!
