You can now order the ultra-secure Blackphone 2 in the US for $799

Quick heads-up for the security-conscious folks out there: you can now order your very own Blackphone 2. It’s a $799 buy, but that doesn’t come without some justification.

It has decent specs, for starters:

  • 5.5 inch 1080p Gorilla® Glass display
  • 1.7GHz Octa-Core Processor
  • 3GB RAM + 32GB of storage
  • Micro SD Card Support
  • 13 Megapixel Camera, 5 megapixel front sensor
  • 3,060 mAh Quick Charge Battery

But beyond that, it’s loaded with Silent Circle’s custom OS based on Android, dubbed Silent OS. It features full encryption for calls and messaging, as well as virtual “spaces” which ensure certain apps can’t talk to other apps (a sandboxing environment typically needed for enterprise use). There’s also the promise of absolutely no carrier or OEM bloatware or monitoring apps, which is very nice. You can head here to order one if all of that sounds good to you.
