Paranoid about mobile security? You probably want the Blackphone 2. It’s an ultra-secure Android phone which uses a custom fork of Android to make certain your data is safe from most prevalent mobile threats.

It does this by promoting end-to-end encryption for messages and calls built into the core of the OS, as well as keeping your device free of bloatware and carrier-influenced apps. They also promise 72-hour fixing of critical vulnerabilities, so something like Stagefright would be fast-tracked to you instead of having to wait for monthly or bi-monthly updates.

It’s also quite the dream phone for those who need to sandbox work apps into their own space, so you can make sure sensitive business data can’t be shared with apps in other spaces. This is emphasized with built-in support for Android for Work.

Blackphone 2 also has some pretty nice specs:

  • 5.5 inch Gorilla® Glass display
  • 1.7GHz Octa-Core Processor
  • 3GB RAM
  • Micro SD Card Support
  • 13 Megapixel Camera
  • Quick Charge Battery

Want one? The company is now taking pre-sales for the phone, though not in the most convenient of ways. You’ll have to reach out to their sales team through a contact form, after which they’ll respond and get you on your way. We’re not sure why they decided to go this route, but it’s better than nothing.

You can read more about how Blackphone 2 and Silent OS helps keep you protected and secure right here. Let us know if you’ll be looking to grab one of these once they’re finally available.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.
