Huawei 007 curve render leak

Huawei could be preparing to announce a bevy of new devices during their September 2nd press event. Set a few days before IFA 2015 officially kicks off in Berlin, we may have caught glimpse at a few of these devices before their intended unveiling. Devices like the Huawei Ascend Mate 8, Huawei Honor 7i, and possibly even Huawei Mate 7 Mini and/or Plus, have all been rumored or exposed in recent leaks.

Now, a teaser for a new device is causing some stir, mainly because it appears Huawei is teasing some kind of new smartphone with a curved display. The image, obtained by GizChina, shows a mysterious device that does have some kind of curvature to it, but upon closer inspection it’s unclear whether we’re looking at a display or simply a 2-tone back cover.

Huawei 007 glass LCD panel leak

Going by codename “007,” you’ll notice the absence of any kind of earpiece or USB port (as well as front camera and sensors, although those could be hidden under glass), suggesting this is the top of the phone laying face down. Looking at the leaked LCD panel, it definitely seems to sit completely flat against a table. If that’s the case, there’s really nothing else to see here, just another brief tease of something that may have already been leaked.

Typically we wouldn’t pay much attention to Huawei devices (given their limited US availability), but Huawei Nexus rumors have our ears perking up whenever something new is leaked. We’ll let you know if we hear more.
