Apple’s magnetic MagSafe connector is, in our opinion, one of the greatest inventions of modern technology. We can’t tell you how many times it’s saved our asses when it came to someone tripping over our Apple laptop power cord, It’s just a damn shame nobody else is using it. We’re sure Apple’s 7311526 B2 patent has something to do with that, but it’s hard to deny how amazing this would be on an Android smartphone or tablet.

Even though we’ve sort of grown disillusioned with Kickstarter projects as of late, a new project called ZNAPS has once again piqued our interest. ZNAPS is a $9 tiny adapter that transforms the USB port on your device into a magnetic MagSafe like connector. It’s a 2-part method, once that involves inserting a magnetic connector inside your device’s USB port, and another to whatever USB cable you’re using.

Magnetic charging combines the convenience of wireless charging, with the speed of a wired connection. In fact, ZNAPS says Quick Charge 2.0 will work just fine with the adapter, so no need to worry. Just snap in, yank it out, without having to worry about damaging anything. The best part is that it’s reversible, so no matter which way you connect, you’re good. Just don’t forget the adapter whenever heading out, or you’ll be forced to use regular micro USB like an animal.

There’s only 27 days to go and ZNAPS has already well exceeded their $94,221 goal where it currently sits at $128,211. The biggest downside we can see is that ZNAPS doesn’t even expect to ship to backers until November at the earliest. With the introduction of USB Type C later this year, we still don’t see that offering up more convenience than ZNAPS. Let’s hope they don’t face any legal action from Apple anytime soon. In the meantime, you can back ZNAPS for only $9 by following the link down below.
