T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have gotten Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and now yesteryear’s counterpart is in line. Android 5.1.1 for the Samsung Galaxy S5 is rolling out starting today, with folks able to pull it down over-the-air and through Samsung Kies.

There’s no word yet on what, exactly, is different. Our hope would be that the device will receive Camera RAW support like the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are currently enjoying, but we’ll have to wait for further reports and testing to see if that’s on tap. At the least we can expect improved performance and other enhancements, as well as bug fixes galore.

Be sure to download it and report back with your impressions once you’ve gotten it loaded up!

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  4. …And the Galaxy note 4? WTF??? Took them forever to roll out 5.0.1. I’m seriously doubting the note 4 will ever get 5.1.1

  6. I have been getting intermittent data connection issue similar to what described in a below Nexus 5 Android 5.1 post. Anyone else getting same thing?

Contacted T-Mo and the rep said some of her friends with S6 + 5.1.1 reports such issue too. Asked me restart the phone if it happens until they have fix from Samsung. It is very annoying. 5.1.1 fixed the RAM/home page lag upon switching app issue but now this.
