Heads-up: the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is now available from AT&T both online and in-store. It’s a rugged version of Samsung’s 2015 Samsung Galaxy S6, if you haven’t caught on by now.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active has much of the same specs as the base model — including a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, a 16 megapixel camera and the Exynos 7420 Octa-Core 64-bit chipset — only it does so with a rugged IP68 military-grade chassis.

As such, it won’t have a fingerprint scanner, but that’s the only sacrifice that had to be made for a tank of a phone. It also has an improved battery at 3,500mAh.

You can grab one for $694 off-contract, $200 on a two-year deal, or as little as $23.17 per month for 30 months on AT&T Next 24. Be sure to head to AT&T and check out all your options if you’re interested.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. The only sacrifice? It’s ugly as sin lol.

    1. Throw the ugly ones in the Volcano then. ;)

    2. I actually love the design. I’ve always been more fond of phones with… eh… a “thicker” design. Designs that would make the phone thicker have tended to be awesome. Reminds me of some secret-agent-military phone.

  2. *5.1″

  3. “only sacrifice”
    >doesn’t mention SD card or removable battery

Are you trolling or just in a rush to get this posted?

    1. What do you mean? The S6 also didn’t have either of those. Since he’s comparing this to the regular s6, the fingerprint sensor is the only sacrifice.

  4. With the exynos chipset, the water resistance, the QHD display, the solid camera and that HUGE 3500 mah battery i think this is a major win. Watch it kill the battery tests.

    1. Does it have the same memory leak issues as the regular S6?

      1. Probably. They should be fixed with the android 5.1 update

  5. Glove mode?

  6. had it come with SD card slot and removable battery I would have considered switching from Verizon to get this. Lacking thus plus lacking fingerprint scanner (my fav feature on s6), noway. Having to type in a 4 digit pin everytime drives me crazy, corp email policy makes us have this, but fingerprint scanner counts as security! The idea behind active would be not having to carry insurance as its more bullet proof…pretty sweet. Almost samsung, almost.

  7. That guy has TINY hands

    1. I think that’s Frodo Baggins holding that phone.

  8. This is the batter the original S6 deserved. My mates Edge is suffering from the memory leak battery issue. We were out on Friday, both with fully charged phones. His was down to 23% after 4 hours, my G4 was on 76%. A man just shouldn’t have to put up with that sort of rubbish.

  9. I went to the ATT store, today. The photos of this don’t do it justice, and I don’t mean just the one used in this article. It really looks big and clunky in the pics, but holding it in my hands, I was surprised by how it really looked and felt. If I finally decide to get rid of my M7, I believe this will be the one that replaces it.
