The Asus ZenWatch surprised a lot of people as one of the best Android Wear devices of 2014. It was one of the more attractive square watches and very affordable. What will Asus do to follow the success? We’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out.

Asus CEO jerry Shen reportedly told NDTV Gadgets that they are working on a new smartwatch, but they don’t plan to launch the ZenWatch 2 in 2015. However, he didn’t say it won’t be announced, so hopefully we’ll hear something about it before the calendar flips to 2016. Shen also revealed that the watch will come in two different sizes for men and women, similar to the Apple Watch.

There will be many new smartwatches announced before the end of the year. Hopefully Asus doesn’t fall too far behind by waiting until next year. What did you think about the Asus ZenWatch? Are you interested in the ZenWatch 2, or is that too long to wait?

Ever since I flipped open my first phone I've been obsessed with the devices. I've dabbled in other platforms, but Android is where I feel most at home.

  1. I still think it’s the best smartwatch you can buy. Granted, I haven’t tried the Urbane yet.

  2. love my zenwatch

  3. It’s the good watch at an even better price point. However, the iWatch upstages any Android Wear device. I slightly regret not waiting for the iWatch.

    1. Does the iwatch work with android?if not why would a android user want one.I’m still very happy with my sw3 and it will be even better after the next update.

      1. I happen to have 2 iPhones (1 personal and 1 business)

        1. My condolences.I’ve turned down jobs because they wanted my to use a iphone

        2. Did you check the name of this app before downloading it? I think you meant to get iPhan.

      2. Not likely

But on the other hand Google is working on making android wear work with ios

    2. It’s called the Apple Watch.

      1. Close enough.

        1. At least get the name right.

          1. They called it the iwatch when the rumors were going around and it would have been an ironically fitting name

    3. The Apple watch will not work with an Android phone.

  4. Love my ZenWatch, have no problem with the next one not coming out until 2016. And why would they fall behind launching layer? They could actually jump ahead like that. Anyways, I’m just glad my watch won’t be obsolete before it turns 1!

  5. I was on the fence about buying a smart watch didn’t think I would use it that much, I looked at the watches out there, and although money wasn’t really an issue, I chose the Zen watch and find new uses for it everyday, looking forward to the zen watch 2 next year, I’m glad they going to wait a year to bring out the next generation by then I think there will be a huge difference in apps and the ability to do other things.

  6. Do you recommend I get one now or wait for the next gen

  7. I think it makes sense for smart watches to only be released every 2 years, most people will probably only upgrade them every 4 anyways, and knowing it wot be obsolete next year might sell a few more. Plus they don’t have nearly as many components that could be upgraded every year. Mainly it’s just waiting for battery technology to catch up. In the off year they could sell new bands, or maybe even upgrade modules like pebble

  8. They promise 6 days of battery life. The current ones (except the Pebble) have a pathetic battery life so I think it´s worth the wait.
