@Upleaks Twitter account goes offline shortly after leaking HTC One M9 promo videos [WTF]

And just like that, @upleaks has mysteriously disappeared from the world of Twitter. His account — and all his tweets — were taken offline less than an hour after he posted videos of what could be the upcoming HTC One M9 (leaked image, followed by leaked promo videos).

We’re not sure exactly what happened or where he went, (or if he’s ever coming back), but we hope HTC’s hit men/lawyers aren’t going to be too rough on him. It’s entirely possible he’s just laying low for a bit, so we’ll keep an eye out.

Thanks, Alan!

  1. OOOO SOMEBODY GOT INNN TROOUUUBBLLEE

  2. I don’t see why, those dam rendors been floating around for over 2days now, hopefully this is HTC way of catching us off guard to give us the best announcement ever, or hopefully upleaks went off line because they don’t wanna be considered one of the worst leaksters ever

  3. You know you’re doing something right when you have to go into hiding.

      1. True but I’d like to think that if you aren’t leaking the truth a company wouldn’t care as much.

        1. He is putting his name out, if he is wrong then he is the worst leaker of all time. HTC can only do a request to have the picture taken down.

        2. Maybe. But still, leaking the details of a companies product before they are ready to release it isn’t necessarily moral. Truth or not, they have the right to protect their property. Sure seems like no big deal when they’re releasing it in 4 days anyway, but he spend a crap ton of money on these coming out parties so I’d be peeved to if someone was leaking my business.

  4. It was spooky enough that the government could censor you, now a cell phone manufacurer can censor you. Isn’t twitter supposed to be crucial to the free and open Internet?

    1. The internet will never be free and open so long as most of us flock to places owned by giant corporations.

      1. So it is okay to leak or take other people stuff?

        1. dong dong yes

          1. Good to know, I should go and still all your stuff, leak your personal video.

          2. YOU have to be 18 to see my videos :-)

          3. I am over 18. I did not to watch you duck a dinky or anything

          4. “Duck a dinky”, that’s a good one !!

          5. *steal

    2. As long as twitter is a business and allowing users to upload copyrighted/trademarked material that can be disputed by the holders, it can be censored.

  5. Now the M9 will stay a secret forever and we’ll never get to see it. :-/

    1. 4-5 days and…. we will know :)

      1. I personally could careless now due to this foolish applish behavior.

  6. Getting more and more disappointed for the M9, unless this is one elaborate staged event to throw everyone off….

    1. I’m starting to feel that it is. And if it is, there’s going to be a whole lot of “I told you so’s”.

This is why rumors need to stay rumors until things are confirmed.

  7. They got to him.

  8. Why would this happen now ? He has done plenty leaks. Maybe not on this scale. Although I think the videos are either fake or a scam by HTC. The video where the guy holds the phone to take a picture of the girl the top “black bar” is slim and then the next time we see it (he is editing the picture) it has a bigger “black bar”. Bad render maybe but. Hope its a fake^^

  9. I guarantee I know what happened. And it’s awo words that all big corporations get boners for.

    Cease and desist.

    1. Cease and desist just mean you have to take down the material not the account. Upleak could have realize that he been troll. Remember his desire A55 leak that was supposed to be released today.

  10. The faceless, corporate suits got to him.

    RIP Upleaks. Lest we forget.

  11. What’s to be surprised about?

  12. Not at all fair, if its official leak, no one should be punished, but if it was fake or stolen, than may be yes !!!
But key question still remains same, Will consumer place a bet on Dying Brand ?

  13. Not just his twitter, his site is also down.

  14. Hey look guys

    1. What are we looking at

      1. This supposed to be the real deal, but the top bezel don’t match, you can’t see it

  15. For everyone making incredibly foolish comments that HTC “got” upleaks, please stop, you’re making yourselves look dumb. Do you seriously think HTC raided this guy’s apartment or something? They sent the FBI in? They hired a hitman to take him out? Please.

If there was something going on involving HTC, it would be a lawsuit. Authorities would only be involved if upleaks did something illegal.

The most likely scenario is that his “leak” turned out to be fake and he didn’t want the backlash. I’ll bet my last dollar that the HTC One M9 will not look like the phone in that video.

    1. You do remember Apple somehow getting the FBI involved and raiding someone’s house, right?

      1. Sure, and like I said, had he done something illegal, then it would be a different story. The Apple thing with Gizmodo was due to the illegal method in which Gizmodo acquired the iPhone.
But anyway, it’s a moot point now, he’s back, and apparently it was just a glitch. I’m still hoping he’s wrong about the design, but we will all know in a few days.

  16. Will the punishment fit the crime ?

  17. Calm down people, he’s back lol
