Android 5.0 Lollipop DSC07203

After Sprint announced on their support site that Android 5.0.1 was headed out to the Nexus 5 today, ‘ol T-Mobile is following suit. Announced via their own support page, it notifies users that a mandatory upgrade to 5.0.1 (same LRX22C build) will be hitting both the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 on their network sometime today.

Don’t expect much by way of new features, this is mainly to address some of the bugs that slipped through the cracks in Android 5.0.

UPDATE: You can now find factory images and OTA update.zips for both the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 right here.

  2. I woke up this morning to a 200mb update for my T-Mobile LG G3. It wasn’t 5.0 and I can’t seem to find a change log or anything. I imagine it was a security patch…. anyone know anything about that?

    1. There hasn’t been an official change log, but It does help with auto brightness and WiFi calling stuff. If it’s the one I’m thinking of.

  3. How does unlocking/rooting affect these OTAs? Will they come through still? Will it unroot my phone?

    1. They will come through still. However, if you have a custom recovery image – you won’t be able to flash it.

      1. So do we have to reflash the original recovery from 5.0 and then do the 5.0.1 upgrade? What about the kernel? I had to flash custom on that too to get root.

        1. Just flash all the files in the factory image file and you should be back to 100% stock. Of course, you’ll lose all your data….

  4. Picked up a Nexus 9 over the weekend and the 5.0.1 update was available right after unboxing.
