KICK Personal Lighting Studio 1

The KICK is a tiny, rechargeable, LED lighting system that is capable of illuminating even the darkest of shooting conditions with 40 adjustable RGB LEDs for a total of 400 Lumens. But that’s only the half of it. When paired with the Android/iOS companion app, the KICK turns into a smart lighting system capable of recreating real-world lighting conditions. For the really artsy types, you can even use the app to adjust colors, brightness, or use some of the built-in effects. Here’s some of KICK’s other features:

  • Works With Any Camera – Smartphones, DSLR cameras, compact cameras and more.
  • Manual or App-Controlled – Use it standalone, or use the iOS/Android app to take full control.
  • Multi-Control – Link multiple KICKs via WiFi, and remote control them via the app.
  • Portable Size – Small and lightweight enough to take along everywhere.
  • Tripod Mount-Capable – If it’s time to get serious.
  • Rechargeable – Built-in Li-ion battery, with micro USB charging cable included.

You can find the KICK priced at $139 on AndroidArea or $199 with the diffuser set. The diffuser set creates a softer light, that’s great for portraits when you’re not looking to create harsh shadows on your subject. That’s actually a pretty good deal too given the KICK is currently going for $160 on Amazon and the diffuser set for another $60. Check out the video below for a little more info about what the KICK can do.

  1. I was thinking this was a rechargeable flashlight until the app was mentioned. Pretty cool.

  2. awesome.

  3. The thing is, 400 lumens is hardly anything. Not even close to a 60watt lightbulb.

  4. Hope I win!

  5. How fast does it flash? Can it actually give a 1/60 sec. or faster flash? That would be useful.
