Amazon has Samsung’s Note 4 unlocked (but you probably won’t be able to stomach the price tag)

Amazon may have presented an early opportunity for buying the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 here in the United States, but you better have pretty deep pockets if you want in. Third party retailer NGP is selling the device for as low as $854.88 unlocked (black version) and up to $904 (gold version). You’ll get the Note 4 as advertised by Samsung, but there are a couple of caveats to note:

  • The device won’t work on Sprint, Verizon or any other CDMA carriers
  • The device is not compatible with any carriers’ 4G LTE networks, though you should be able to hop onto HSPA+ just fine.

That, coupled with such a ludicrous price tag, would probably convince you to hold off. Carriers should be selling their respective versions at considerably cheaper off-contract price tags starting next week so it’s definitely worth waiting if you aren’t dying to have it as soon as possible. If your pockets are fat and you want to make them even fatter with the addition of this 5.7-inch beast then be our guest. Find the purchase links straight ahead.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Wait, I thought Samsung phones were pretty heavily region-locked nowadays?

    1. Only after you activate it in a given region, I believe.

  2. I bet N6 will be better priced.

    1. Of course it will, that’s like saying you suspect the new Honda Civic will be cheaper than the Lamborghini Aventador.

      1. Bad analogy. Spec-wise N6 should be equal to (if not better than) Note 4.

Can it be the 16th already?

        1. Nexus6 announcement date is not confirmed yet?! Nexus 9 will be announced on 15th of this month.

        2. Somehow I doubt the N6 will have a comparable battery, camera, or external (SD) storage support though.

          1. I wonder how many people will be complaining about the N6 not having a external micro sd slot. You think people would get the idea by now.

        3. Yeah, I very strongly doubt that. Even if it does match on things like the processor and RAM, the Note 4 still has features that firmly place it above any other phablet.

  3. Plus, there’s the free 50gb on Dropbox if they’re still doing that deal with Samsung phones on some carriers. My 50gb was awesome but it just expired after 2 years. I wouldn’t mind having that again.

    1. I had the two year promotion from my S3 and I got the Galaxy Alpha with the Dropbox promotion. Found out you can only get the promotion once per account.

      1. Out of curiosity, because I also took advantage of the 50gb promo for my Note 2… but can’t you set up a dummy account to get the 50gb, then share a folder with your primary account?

        1. What a clever idea! I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of that. Thank you.

          1. I hope it works :)

        2. Yes. I did that too. You do loose extra storage space for inviting others though.

      2. Damn! I was afraid of that.
Well fine, I can just make another dropbox account. :-)
Although my main one is already at 23GB so it would be a bit of a pain to split them em and move all my stuff back over in 2 years.

  4. The price isn’t ludicrous. It’s cheaper than the iPhone. What’s ludicrous is how many US citizens actually believe a high end phone is only worth $200 and a cellular contract is really worry $50 per month.

  5. I’ll just wait on the Nexus 6 or get a LG G3.

  6. The Note 4 should be $600 US max.
