OnePlus One update fixes annoying touchscreen responsiveness issues, adds cool new features

OnePlus One DSC06070

The OnePlus One has just received a nice firmware upgrade to version CM 11s 38R. The very first change we want to mention is a fix for touchscreen responsiveness that many users have complained about since the phone’s launch. The upgrade seems to do away with all those annoyances so you should look at it as a critical fix and something you’ll want to download.

But if that isn’t enough to whet your appetite, perhaps this list of notable additions and changes will be. You’ll now be able to take photos in the RAW format used in professional cameras, support for 24 bit, 96/192khz music in FLAC, WAV and ALAC formats without resampling, ANT+ support for health accessories and apps, and more. The list of bug fixes is even longer:

  • Added method for users to report bugs directly to Cyanogen.
  • Added pause button during video recording.
  • Improved battery life.
  • Fixed issues with camera exposure compensation stuck in ‘auto’.
  • Fixed issues with ‘4G Preferred’ option not connecting to 3G data.
  • Fixed issues with delay in torch activation.
  • Fixed issues with unresponsive screen requiring reboot.
  • Fixed issues with static in speaker when changing volume while headset plugged in.
  • Fixed issues with rotation not triggering when rotated slowly.
  • Fixed issues with Quiet Hours / system UI causing battery drain on last day of month.
  • Fixed issues with camera not starting when LED torch is already on.
  • Fixed issues with Bluetooth volume low on connection.

Convinced you need this firmware yet? Head to your phone’s settings menu to look for the new goods, but make sure you’re on WiFi with a decently charged battery just to make sure nothing goes wrong.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. You’ve already proven the phone is solid and capable. The firmware updates are icing on the cake. Now let’s package them up and get them out! We want our cake!

    1. The second One will probably be announced before the first one get an actual public release

    2. plenty for sale on aliexpress.com, just search for oneplus one

    3. This phone is amazing

  2. When will OnePlus grow up and be a real company and start actually selling adult products to adult buyers? This “get an invitation” game is WEAK. I don’t need a game. I need a phone.

    1. When they can match the product supply to the demand.

      1. There are better ways to handle the limited supply problem. Pre-orders or a waiting list would be more fair and eliminate the need for people to go begging and jumping through hoops to get an invite. Under the invite system, some people have gotten 3 or 4 invites while far more haven’t even gotten one. Also the invite system doesn’t allow them to guage actual demand, they have no way of knowing how many people actually want an invite (or how many want more than one phone).

    2. Now I’m picturing a child trying to use this phone with their tiny hands….

  3. haven’t received it yet. they announced it at 3AM today.

  4. Better battery life? 3-4 day battery then!

The screen issues ended for me, but it’s good to get an official fix. Now about my null texts….

    1. Finally got my update in this morning.

  5. It seems that OnePlus is doing with the One what Samsung did with the original Gear smart watch; use it as a public hardware beta to gage interest and to iron out some of the usual first generation kinks.

  6. I remember a time when I actually wanted this phone …. ahhh, those were the days

    1. Shame to not have pursued. The phone’s worth the effort. : ) Really, I’ve held an M8 an S5 a G3 iPhone 6+ Haha : D and they just aren’t as…. I can’t describe it. They just aren’t as. Full stop. ; )

      1. It probably is but I can’t get behind a company that’s based on gimmicks and lies

  7. Strange but I was just expecting an update. At least every 6 weeks. This is why CM is the icing to this cake. Love this phone. I’ve had it for about 2 months and still nothing has my eye. Nexus 6 may make me want to switch, but I think OnePlus One will have Android L by January 1, I hope.

    1. I’m looking for a Nexus 6, but I think on price One Plus One will win.

  8. Getting an invite is easy as pie.

  9. They don’t mention the dictionary issue. Oneplus One doesn’t autocorrect in some languages. Neither it recognizes speech for those languages. I was hoping that it’ll be fixed soon.

  10. Good update, just a shame I had to do factory reset afterwards to fix my cm lockscreen and gallery from not responding.

  11. Guys, getting an invite is actually very easy to do. Also there are plenty of people out there selling their invites at a very reasonable price. I understand that the invites are annoying, but they sure didn’t set me back when I was ready to buy this AMAZING phone.
