HTC has been a busy bee these past few months, updating current and last generation flagship One devices with new software builds. While updating devices on Verizon is also a sticky situation, recently we saw HTC receive the green light to update the Verizon HTC One M7 to Android 4.4.3 which, aside from fixing OpenSSL security issues, introduced HTC’s very own Extreme Power Saving mode.

Today, we’re now receiving word from HTC that they’ve finally receive approval to push out Android 4.4.3 for the HTC One M8, with an official rollout beginning on September 10th (they day after Apple’s iPhone 6 event). Just as we saw with the M7, the update will bring all the security patches addressed in Android 4.4.4, along with new HTC specific software like their Extreme Power Saving mode.

While you’ll no doubt receive a prompt at some point that the update is ready, feel free to manually check for the update yourself this Wednesday when the update officially becomes available.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.
