As HTC continues to support their older flagship line — the original HTC One (M7) — the manufacturer’s US base of operations announced today on Twitter that they have received approval from Verizon regarding their Android 4.4.3 update.

Aside from being infused with the same OpenSSL security fixes as you’ll find on stock Android 4.4.4 devices, One M7 users can also look forward to HTC’s Extreme Power Saving mode — a feature you simply can’t get on stock Android.

No word on the exact day the rollout will begin, but keep an eye out. It’s going to be a busy week.

  1. I would hope the M8 will get it soon thereafter.

    1. Last I heard Verizon should be releasing 4.4.3 for the M8 within the next couple/few weeks.

  2. ..i just updated my M7 to 4.4.3, but i already had extreme power save anyway :/

  3. I don’t understand why they are calling this 4.4.3 if it includes the OpenSSL fixes from 4.4.4, which were the only changes in 4.4.4. How is it not 4.4.4?

  4. Funny how we ask for huge screens, massive CPU’s and fast radios, but end up slowing and turning all this off or down for battery consumption.

    1. Ha. Only in emergencies (like while at Disneyland or lost in the woods).
