It’s hard to believe that it was exactly 30 years ago today, the game that many of us grew up on was first conceived. Named after the Greek word for the number 4, Tetris is officially celebrating its 30 anniversary around the world.

To help celebrate, you can download Tetris Blitz from the Google Play Store recently updated with new features for the event, including retro-skinned tournaments featuring 80’s inspired Tetris music and gameplay. Feels like it was only yesterday my brother and I were playing this game underneath a church pew. How far we’ve come.

  4. If you want a different take on tetris, try http://www.firstpersontetris.com/. Instead of rotating the blocks, you rotate the entire game around the blocks, it’s kind of a mindfuck. I coudln’t find an android version of it, but it’s still a fun version of tetris online.
