Is this the Xperia Z2? Sony’s next flagship pictured with Xperia Z and Z1

sirius-xperia-z2-sony-leak

The handset first described under the codename Sirius has leaked in a series of photos depicting the device next to previous Sony releases, the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z. The device shown does not make any grand departures from the design language of the older handsets, lending credibility to rumors that the phone could launch under the Xperia Z2 banner.

The Sirius/Xperia Z2 does appear to be slightly larger than the other two phones shown here, suggesting whispers of a 5.2-inch display could be in the right ballpark. The Xperia Z and Xperia Z1 both featured a 5-inch display.

While the Xperia Z2 may take over the mantle as Sony’s flagship device for early 2014, the handset is not expected to be a major upgrade to the Z1. Potential specs include a Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB RAM, and a 20MP camera that would be practically identical to the optics featured in the Z1. The same set of leaks also indicates it should be available in both light and dark color variants. Expect black and white like previous Sony handsets.

Evidence points to Sony potentially unleashing the Xperia Z2 as early as Mobile World Congress. If things pan out, we should be getting our first official glimpse at the latest member of Sony’s flagship Xperia Z lineup in less than two weeks.

      “BEZEL IS SATAN!”

I could honestly care less about bezels, they’re not that big. Sony have a very light, and very nice skin. And they make great phones. I’m very excited for this. May be my next phone.

If evleaks is correct about this puppy coming to Verizon, then it’ll definetly be my next phone.

Couldn’t care less. You could care a lot and still ‘care less’.

    The Xperia ZL was c6503.
    The Xperia Z was c6603.
The Xperia Z Ultra was c6803.
    The Xperia Z1 was c6903.

There’s a D6503 and D6603… Wouldn’t the D6503 be a follow up to the ZL and D6603 be the true sequel to the Z, which would make a possible D6903 the Z1-2?

    I’m just saying…

Any word on when/if the Xperia Z1 compact will officially be released stateside either on or off contract?

I keep hearing and reading about people pointing out how there can be less bezel or there’s too much bezel.

Can someone point me to a device that has little bezel that people actually like? I’ve used different phones in my life and the bezel has not been uncomfortable large.

I’d love to see what people are asking for, because right now I’m imaging nothing but screen. And I’m not even kidding. I think people want to hold a glass shard in their hands.

What’s the fuss with the bezels? Lol! Just because one manufacturer creates smaller bezels, does that mean that has to be the norm? The bezels can always be larger.

  • the thet

Americans always whine about bezels of the premium sony and samsung, now what about your entry brand low tech apple huh, it got bezel as wide as the screen buwaahahahahah
