HTC One now receiving Android 4.4.2 KitKat update… in Canada

HTC One blue 1

Just because HTC missed their target date for rolling out Android 4.4.2 KitKat to the HTC One here in the states doesn’t mean the manufacturer is facing the same delays elsewhere. Case in point, the Canadian version of the device which, right on schedule, is now receiving Android 4.4.2 on Rogers, Bell, Virgin, TELUS, SaskTel and WIND (Canada’s big major wireless networks).

In light of HTC President Jason MacKenzies lengthy apology letter, we’re wondering how much the US delay had to do with HTC, and how much of it was actually the US carriers and their extensive approval process. In any case, if you’ve got an HTC One and you’re living in Canada, now’s a good time to jump into your Settings > About Phone > Software update and pull that KitKat.

  8. Oh well. For one owners, do you really need all stuff that kitkat brings? HTC sense has so many features that’s built in already. It’s a bigger deal on nexus devices but as a nexus 4 owner who has an HTC one I have to say I actually do feel a little jealous when I mess with his phone. Sense 5 just still seems more polished than stock android

      Tap. To. Pay. :P

      1. Yeah I forgot they left that secure element out of there however its not as great as you think not anymore. All the places that used to accept wallet have switched over to mobile Isis, and so many other places get these brand new credit card readers with no NFC. I don’t even understand why they still make NFC free readers. I used the hell out of tap and pay when I first got my 4 now I hardly ever use it. Overall it just seems like a very cool tech that never took off

        1. “All the places that used to accept wallet have switched over to mobile Isis,”

NFC payments are a standard. If they take ISIS they take Wallet, and vice-versa. Otherwise, the Tap-to-Pay cards wouldn’t work, either.
