Could these three trademarks suggest Samsung is bringing new devices to CES?

It’s been recently discovered that Samsung has trademarked three new names in relation to, well, all things personal electronics. Filed on December 17th, the three trademark filings don’t give us any solid information as to what they could be, but it’s fun to imagine what we might be seeing at some point in the near or distant future. Here are the three names if you’re curious:

  • Showplace
  • Infinitude
  • Panagon

Believe me when I say you’re not alone in thinking that these sound nothing like names Samsung would use for devices. They could be code names for all we know, but it’s a bit odd for a company to trademark three throwaway names.

Could these be new tablets? Phones? AIO desktop computers? A competitor to Google Glass? Some cool accessory? The world may never know, but we’re hoping the Korean company is coming to CES with more than just their dreams and ambitions. We know it can’t be the next flagship phone, aka the Samsung Galaxy S5 — that particular device is headed straight for Mobile World Congress.

Samsung’s also rumored to be coming to town with a couple of Android tablets, including a new Samsung Galaxy Note Pro that might have a massive 12.2 inch display. Of course, any guess is a stab in the dark at this point, so we’ll just have to stay tuned to see if any of these names mean anything at all.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

Happy Holidays from Phandroid!

  1. Infinitude, that’s like Barney Stinson’s linkitivity and similar words.

    1. And my favorite possimpible

  2. They just sound like buzz words like retina display. I could see showplace being a service and panagon being some new pixel arrangement. Not sure about infinitude that just sounds like someone who always has an attitude

    1. The display device will go in behind your eye on the iPhone 15. Retina display – Futurama style.

  3. I wish it was a Note 8 2014 edition with 8″ 2K screen, 3GB RAM and snapdragon 805. Am I asking too much?

    1. They better redesign the look of Note 8 too.

      1. Agreed. The current Note 8 and its huge bezels is just terrible. I wouldn’t mind so much a look like the Note 10.1 2014 but a totally new look with minimal bezels would be very welcome too.

  4. Samsung releases too many phones.

    1. Let’s see, the world has over 7 billion people… Samsung releases what? 100 different phones a year? 200? 300? Nah, not even close to be too many. If anything, the other companies release too few!

  5. Showplace sounds like a service for entertainment uses (stream movies,tv shows etc.)

  6. You know you’ve played Dragon Age Origins/Diablo 3 too much when you read Panagon as “Paragon”. Haha.

  7. Sounds like features on TVs. Showplace sounds like a content organization or content access thing. Infinitude sounds like a new black level thing lol. Panagon sounds like some panoramic feature, perhaps cinema aspect ratio?

  8. maybe they’re just trying to throw us off the tracks of the S5….
