Google unveils white Nexus 7 for the holidays; buy with a Chromecast to get $35 in Google Play credit

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? Google is too, because the company has just put up a new color option in the Google Play Store for the 2013 Nexus 7. You can get the thing in white, though note that they’re only offering it in white if you opt for the more expensive 32GB version. It’s a very nice color that has looked great on the Nexus 5 thus far, so it’s not a big surprise Google wanted to do the same for the Nexus 7.

It’s also worth noting that Google is holding a special holiday promotion for those who buy a Nexus 7 and a Chromecast together. Do that, and you could get yourself a $35 credit for use with any bit of content in the Google Play Store. That essentially gives you a free Chromecast. What’s not to like? Head over there and place your order as soon as possible, because this deal isn’t guaranteed to last long.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. It’s only $35 with a Chromecast? I am going to buy a bunch for gifts!

    1. Yes, a very poorly worded headline.

    2. In for 20!

  2. 16GB isn’t enough anyway if it’s your primary tablet.
my 16GB N7 2013 was free and i have a 128GB surface pro and an 80GB note 2(internal + external) so i’m not going to complain, but after installing just 3 big games(2 music games, so no “complete and delete”) i have only 5.5GB left which would hold 1 HD movie and my music.
if it was my primary tablet i’d want some space for another game or 2 and a few movies.

    1. Probably not enough for someone who plays a lot of top end games like you, or people who like to carry around their entire music or movie collection…
But for me, Google Music works great to access my 120gb of music and for large games, I’m usually not playing them in the same time frame, you can just uninstall and reinstall later if needed.
For the price, nothing really beats the N7.

      1. i don’t play a lot of “top end games”
i play need for speed most wanted, cytus, and osu!droid.
need for speed is the only big name, the other 2 are music games which are great “whenever i feel like it” games.

as for google music, i’ve never really looked into their streaming options.
i have spotify(“freebie” from my carrier) but there i’d miss out on 2/3 of my music(1/3 will never be added, 1/3 isn’t available yet)

        1. Definitely checkout Google Music, you can stream all your own music anywhere anytime with it… Pretty nice for all those songs Spotify doesn’t support.

  3. So, It,s white. Does that make it perform better?

  4. The white Nexus 7 is cool… I just really do not get why these companies, Google especially, can not release basic options like colors together at launch (kudos for doing so with the Nexus 5, but that was rare). Would it have been THAT hard to also release the white and black Nexus 7 at the same time? Seems like just a different color back panel here.
I bought the Nexus 7 on launch day, and I also bought the Nexus 5 on launch day — in white. Not a huge deal, but I would have liked to get the 7 in white as well … I mean what is the point here Google? To instill a mild form of buyers remorse in your best customers. To ‘zing’ us with a “ha, ha, we got ya suckers!” I just don’t get it.

  5. Damn it, Wi-Fi only. If it had GSM I would’ve bought it to match my 5.
