And just like a bucket of candy left unattended on your front porch on Halloween, the Nexus 5 is gone from the Google Play Store. In less than an hour since it went official, supply of the highly anticipated Android smartphone is already starting to dry up. As of writing the 16GB Nexus 5 in black and white is no longer in stock and availability of other models, including the 32GB Nexus 5 in black and white continues to fluctuate.

Who out there was able to get their hands on a new Nexus 5? Let us know in the comments below. If you’re still trying, check back as we will be updating this post periodically with availability info.

  1. Wow. Well done Google. Well done.

  2. Managed to get one … I am already sick of how many “An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again later.” I had!

  3. But if you just keep refreshing the page you can get it to appear and then sneak in an order… oh nevermind, that was the Nexus 4

  4. Two black 32 GB’s on their way to me.

  5. when will google learn how to sell devices? out of inventory in less than an hour?

    1. this was even a sneak launch, so a lot of people didn;t know about it. Only the die-hard nexus fans…I guess that is one way to ‘manage’ demand xD

      1. I just refreshed the screen many many times… and it said it is in stock now… . WTF! anyway, trying to order one…

        1. Good luck chuck! May the Nexus be with you (sooner rather than later)

  6. No it still there

    1. I refreshed the page again, it is showing up again.. placing an order now.. finger-cross..

      1. Man…the 16GB black is gone.. trying the 16GB white… very frustrating…

  7. So I ordered a Nexus 5 32 GB in white and it said it will ship from 11/5, however now if I go to buy one it says it will ship in 1-2 business days. Why do i have to wait longer if I bought mine sooner!?!?

    1. It has always said ship in 1-2 business days, but the actual date is 11/5 per my email confirmation.

    2. Now the ship date for the black has fall to 11/8.

  8. I have four ordered… 1Black 16GB, 1White 16GB and 2Black 32GB. All say 11/5 shipping

    1. Read closer…it should say Ship BY 11/5, which means it could ship earlier.

      1. Mine says 11/4 ^^

  9. 4 ordered – 2 Black, 2 White, all 32 GB. Shipping 11/5.

  10. Man… I should just pull the trigger and buy one… still have black 32GB

  11. 2 black 16bg models ordered with shipping by 11/5.

  12. I MUST WAIT ABOUT 2 WEEKS AND I WILL TRY MY LUCK WITH A 32GB VERSION. and yes i just screamed that. lol!

  13. Got mine 32GB white. 11/5 ship date.

    1. Same! So excited. Except that my contract with Verizon ends on December 15th. So I’ll be playing over WiFi for a month…LOL

  14. no warning nothing, it was a good thing i was surfing the web today

    1. I actually got a text from t mobile but their web site just says coming soon I think. Had just walked in the door at home so jumped on the google store and picked one up. I figure it will be cheaper than buying it from tmobile.

  15. I have to admit, this launch went much more smooth than the nexus 4 launch. It was really easy to add the phone to the cart and just check out. I didn’t get any time out issues and whatnot. I wonder if everyone’s “ship by” date will hold up.

  16. hopefully it’s due to overwhelming demand and not shortage of supply

  17. Mine is just chilling in my cart until I find out from Verizon if they will let me use it there but I doubt it

      1. from the google website

        Supported Service

Unlocked: Use with any provider that offers service on Nexus 5 supported networks

        Carriers: T-Mobile, Sprint

    1. Cart does nothing – As soon as supply drops to out of stock, it’ll drop from your cart too. But looks like inventory is fluctuating.

  18. All 4 options show Leaves warehouse by Nov. 8th now.

    1. Do you know what they originally showed?

      1. 11/5! Another site said its all preorders. Don’t know how much truth it is to it, but they say the first shipment should be leaving the warehouse on 11/5

      2. My order says ships by Tuesday 11/5. Later orders changed to 11/8. Some options seem to go out of inventory at times now too.

    1. Damn I should do that then with holding 2 on my cart right now

  19. It’s back…

    1. I guess they’re doing them in waves supposedly mine ships 11/8. when were the first ones supposed to ship? Intermitently says the black is out of stock but if you reload it comes back.

      1. That’s what I’m wondering.

  20. Effing Verizon… I swear man.. As soon as sprint or T-Mobile gets their coverage together. I’m out. I don’t even want this unlimited anymore when I’m missing Dope phones.

    1. Why wait, i bailed as soon as they dicked me out of my upgrade

    2. I have about 40 days left with Verizon. Can’t come soon enough. I’ll probably get a lower speed with tmo but saving $40/month and not dealing with Verizon will be worth it.

  21. Nexus 5 already sold out in some configurations (NOT)

    1. Yeah, it’s going in and out. Initially both 16GB showed sold out for me, but then after clicking the purchase for the 32GB, the 16GB’s came back up, so I bought the black 16 and cancelled my 32.

  22. I ordered the 32GB White Nexus 5. Now to find a case.

    1. http://www.amazon.com/FUSION%C2%AE-Selling-Absorption-Scratch-Yourself/dp/B00G00TX16

cheapest on amazon, I found. Though you can get an all TPU case on Ebay for $7, FYI.

  23. Got my 16 GB white. Ordering Spigen white case slim armor

  24. Why are they still charging us $50 for a 16GB storage upgrade? It’s really ridiculous, especially since they’re charging just $40 for the same size storage upgrade in the Nexus 7. I’m sure if they charged $30 for it they’d still be making a profit. If the overall cost to the manufacturer of having an extra 16GB in the device is over $30 then they’re doing something wrong.

    1. Dude, cut them some slack. Your getting the best phone on the market at a price way below the market value.

      1. I’m not specifically picking on Nexus phones. All the manufacturers do it, and that’s what makes it most ridiculous. Everyone will keep paying $50 for 16GB of flash storage because that’s the status quo, and that will be the status quo as long as people happily continue paying that price. It’s basically a luxury tax for a very basic feature.

And just so we’re clear, I’ve owned the Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, and original Nexus 7, all really good values *compared to other full price devices*. That doesn’t justify the status quo of $50 for 16GB of flash storage.

    2. Really? The phone is half off of ANY high end smartphone off contract. Don’t complain.

    3. So buy a Nexus 7!

  25. I bought White 32Gb. This is what I wanted from the start. Funny – I always laughed in the face of the dudes sporting a white phone. But somehow white back with that huge black camera nipple and black front made it all different in my eyes.

  26. Got mine. 32gb white, now i need a case; hello amazon

    1. http://www.amazon.com/FUSION%C2%AE-Selling-Absorption-Scratch-Yourself/dp/B00G00TX16

cheapest on amazon, I found. Though you can get an all TPU case on Ebay for $7, FYI.

  27. Yikes.. not this again.. Black & white 16 GB is currently out of stock atm

    1. Had to keep going to the main device page, and going back into the N5 page, before I got my 16GB black N5. According to mine, they are both back in stock at 16GB.

  28. So I went through my order and they said they would email me a confirmation. when processed. Still waiting. :( damn it

    1. It took about 5 minutes for me, 1.75 hours ago.

      1. I got the email 2 hrs later

        1. Yeah mine took an hour to process

  29. just got white 16GB. No issues

  30. I was pretty frustrating when trying to order thanks to my work’s pcs sucking. Thank god for mobile phone ordering.

  31. Kudos to Google for finally getting their pre-order system working, and for making cases available at launch. Looks like they are learning to care about marketing, at least a little bit.

  32. Got my email and confirmation of 2 Nexus 5 ; 1 black and 1 white 16 GB model. My plan is to sell one to pay for the 1 I keep.

    1. Not cool mate… you’re fleecing someone who wants to buy a NEXUS, not some ordinary fashionista – we’re a special bunch…we shouldn’t fleece each other like that….

    2. yugliness that makes you go “YUCK, DUDE”!!! WTF?

  33. Back in stock for all versions, but it’s showing 3-4 weeks for delivery.

  34. I just want to say ‘fair play’ to Google for having the US $, UK £ and € Euro prices pretty much the same… that’s rare in technology….

  35. Unfortunate if this persists like last time. Phone sales were hobbled due to supply. Before the N4 could eventually be readily obtained, it was overshadowed by the HTC One and Samsung S4. I for one would prefer this to be a more normal industry model. Good phone for a good price. No carrier subsidy. Stick with Straight Talk until data prices come back down to earth. I would choose cheaper, slower 3g data over “blazing fast” LTE with pitiful little data caps for way too much $$ any day. 3g is plenty fast enough for anything most people will ever do, since streaming video and online gaming are out without unlimited data anyway, no matter what speed.
$110 a month for 2.5GB data + unlimited talk/text on AT&T? Or $45 a month for 2.5GB data + unlimited talk/text via Straight Talk on AT&T network? If you exceed the 2.5GB monthly data cap on Straight Talk, you get throttled back to 2g speed until you re-up for another month. I’m alright with that. To save $780 a year? You bet. Blazing fast Facebook and Googling just isn’t worth all the extra $$.

  36. i never saw this issue. ordered my 2 without issue, arriving wednesday. after reading this i even went out and all 4 were in stock. 32gb were longer delivery time, but they were all available.
