When we first heard about Pressy, the little button that fits itself into your 3.5mm headphone jack and can be configured to do whatever you please, we knew it had a big chance of being a hot Kickstarter success. Indeed, the project had already been fully funded on its first day, with the folks at NimRod Back earning $80,000 of their $40,000 goal.

So where do they stand today? Just a few weeks later, Pressy has already reached over $500,000 in pledges, and they still have 26 days (as of the time of this writing) until it’s all fulfilled on October 14th. With that, the team has announced the fulfillment of the $500,000 stretch goal in their latest update.

Dubbed Pressy-to-talk, this feature will allow you to communicate with your loved ones in push-to-talk fashion. Simply hold the Pressy button and talk, and the other person will pick up on it (if they have a Pressy of their own). Push-to-talk is nothing new, but having push-to-talk that can be initiated with a hardware button on phones that aren’t built with it in mind is definitely appealing.

These are the types of possibilities a product like Pressy opens up, and it’s that reason why they’ve been able to raise a ton of money in a short amount of time. We’ll be reaching out to see if the folks at Nimrod Back will have any other stretch goals in mind (especially if they hit the illustrious $1,000,000 mark).

  3. I got in on the Pressy Kickstarter after the first story about it, cant wait to get it! A little worried about how it will look on the curved top of my GS3, but I think it will be OK. Can’t wait to have a dedicated hardware camera button again, I miss that from my Droid X!

  4. That is one of two features that I miss with the BlackBerry, believe it or not. Having the convenience keys to assign what with. I wish some of the top-tier Android devices had that.

And the second was the abbreviations. I could type in “AYIA” and it would automatically change it to a.youth.in.asia

  5. invested/donated in this project on the first day. Looking forward to receiving mine
