New Nexus 7 hand wm

Waiting to get your hands on a new Nexus 7? Wait no longer. After those pre-ordering the device from Best Buy received word that their new tablets would be available today, a quick check at Best Buy’s website seems to confirm the fact. When searching for the N7 at local stores, it is appearing as available and in stock. Original estimates gave a July 30th date for the tablet’s retail availability.

The refreshed Nexus 7 features a 1080p display, dual-cameras, a revamped design that is both smaller and lighter than last year’s model, and plenty more. It’s a serious upgrade and well worth the $229 price tag for a 16GB model. If you didn’t pull the trigger on a pre-order via Google Play or other online source, heading to your local Best Buy today is your chance to score the slate before all the cool kids do.

  1. Got one!

  2. Jealous Lol….weird tho, the “older” nexus 7 wasn’t even sold at the best buy where I live. Surprised they are selling this one there. I’ll have to check and see

  3. I’m only seeing the 16GB model available at my local BB’s at the moment. Looks like the 32GB models will be a but longer.

    1. My Best Buy had both. I snapped up a 32GB about an hour ago.

      1. Yeah, I’m not seeing it listed in my area. :( Just says ship to store, 3-5 days.

        1. Give it some time today, you have to remember that certain stores get there deliveries early than others today.

    2. Yeah, I’m waiting on my local Best Buy stores to show they’re in stock. I have about 10 to choose from, and just refreshing the page. I did look in other states back east and noticed those stores are showing 32GB models in stock for pick up.

      Still early afternoon here.

  4. Thanks for the PSA. I just bought one and will be fingering it all night long.

    1. post of the day

    2. Two other Android tablets to become available this week worth checking out include the new Pipo M7 Pro ($255) that for about the same price as the new Nexus 7, features a much larger 8.9 inch display with 1900×1200 screen resolution, a Quad core processor, along with built-in GPS navigation… and is packed with features that compare to the new Nexus–

There’s also an 8-inch model similar to the mini iPad – the Pipo U8 ($195) — both these new Android tablets are compatible with Chromecast and also work with Miracast HD Wireless (similar to Apple AirPlay) and unlike the new Chromecast, gives you the ability to display all tablet content as well as movie streaming wirelessly to a TV; and both new models also offer premium speakers, WiFi with both 2.4 and 5.0 GHz frequencies for greater connection, and a premium Windows style User Interface that makes the Android experience much more intuitive and easier to use–

More details on both these models are available at Tablet Sprint- – one of the first sites to carry the new Pipo Series tablets…

  5. These are gonna sell like hotcakes now they are at stores other than Walmart (which is a crappy place to sell, they never even had a display up) and Target (also never had displays up).

As long as the people at Best Buy are trained correctly, these will fly off the shelves for the price they are.

    1. I’ve never had a good experience with the people at Best Buy. They seem better trained to sell certain brands or more expensive choices. And they always have so many people working.

      1. “And they always have so many people standing around in blue shirts talking to each other.”

        More accurate sentence, imo.

        1. True! I usually try to avoid them anyways, unless I want to buy a $100 HDMI cable or something like that.

    2. They train the blue shirts at best buy? I didn’t know that.

    3. Trained for what?

  6. Is it 1200p display? Not 1080p?

    1. I think it would have to be 2133×1200 or 2134×1200 to be 1200p (basing it off of needing to be a 16:9 ratio). 1920×1200 is 16:10.

      1. Well said. The extra width of 120 pixels is to allow for the bars that most movies have at the top and bottom anyway, or buttons. Just like the of N7 was a 720p with 1280×800.

  7. I just wanna know a date for the cellular version

  8. Gettong one shortly. Are there any cases available for this device yet?

  9. I might be running there… next week after I see some reviews. I can’t express how glad I am that I didn’t buy it from the play store.

  10. Thanks Phandroid! Just ordered one from outside Baltimore City here. Will post a quick review sometime next week! You guys rock — 32GB FOR LIFE.

  11. Not compatible with Google Wallet? Wtf?!

  12. Just ordered the 32GB for pickup today. I hope they have some chromecast stuff in stock also.

  13. Looking at that in someone’s hands… I wish it was a phone. =)

  14. I just bought a 32gb one on Amazon…..even with overnight/Sat shipping it’s only $277.97 while I’m sure Best Buy would be about $300 after tax. I can wait one more day for those savings since I’m about to go to work for a lonnnnng Friday shift anyway.

    1. That’s because you don’t live in California…

  15. Put in my order for a 16gb and 32gb and have to wait for the store to open. Dang west coast

    1. I only had one store that had it available for pickup today near the 4 best buy stores around me.

      1. So did I. I just hope that when I get there at 10, they actually have it. I did get an email saying it is ready for pickup so my odds are looking pretty good.

        1. Yea, I think if you ordered through the site and got that email, you guarantee one. They technically can’t sell it. I had pre-ordered something before and they sold my copy off and I was furious. They gave me something for free.

          1. Good to know.

  16. Does anyone feel that Google should switch from the IPS display entirely when they work with OEMs for products? I feel that the Nexus 4’s screen looked bad with a digitzer present and the OG Nexus 7 looked washed up. A Super LCD does the trick.

    1. so true

  17. Just picked one up, time to start cracking away at it ;)

  18. On Amazon. $8.99 for Saturday delivery with Amazon Prime. Out of Stock at Best Buy in South Florida. Have mine by noon to morrow.

  19. Picked mine up. They are beautiful.

  20. Grabbed mine in phoenix (mesa fiesta mall has some left)… 32gig naturally, the extra 16gig is like a 40 dollar insurance policy. So far so good!

  21. Hoping to sell my of 32 GB while I’m here in Armenia for at least 250 and then buy the new one! Don’t think I’m crazy trying to get that price; the galaxy nexus is selling for 425 in stores.

  23. My Best Buy had a cage full of these. Impressed with how well it runs at 1080p, silky smooth.
