Motorola DROID Maxx hands-on [VIDEO]

19

The Motorola DROID Maxx was undoubtedly the center of attention at today’s Verizon event. The device has all the specs and features the DROID Ultra and DROID Mini have to offer, but the 3,500 mAh battery offering 48 hours of juice is the cherry on top.

We have been playing with it for a while and have put together a nice hands-on video with our first impressions of the DROID Maxx. We go over the externals, as well as some of the main features of the phone. Sit back, grab your popcorn and enjoy the video!

  1. Did Moto make a huge mistake letting VZ announce these phones and some of the new features that will also be on the Moto X first? How much excitement and will there be for the Aug 1 presser and $500 million dollar ad launch for X be if Verizon already stole some of the thunder of Moto X and it’s new features?

    1. Is it really bad to have phones that come out at the same time from the same manufacturer have the UI? just means people will get the moto x on contract because it will most likely be free

    2. They’re not marketing the X on its specs. They’re marketing the “customization”

    3. I don’t think that’s Moto’s decision to make. Verizon obviously wants to give top billing to their exclusive phones.

    4. Anyone not on VZ doesn’t care about the Droid line. So MotoX is still big. Also a Google rep was quoted as saying that within the first 2 minutes of the MotoX announcement it’ll be plainly obvious what differentiates the MotoX over the Droids. Hopefully it’s more than just customization options, but we’ll see.

  2. Nice design and built! Too bad it’s a Verizon exclusive.

  3. Show us the camera! I want to know how it stacks up to the likes of the S4.

  4. any expandable memory?

    1. That’s what I was wondering…but I doubt it. That back plate looked pretty tightly sealed. :/

    2. Confirmed not to have expandable memory. Shame.

  5. A ton of notifications.

  6. Thanks for telling us nothing about the phone. Waste of time that video was.

  7. I’m guessing that Android 4.3 will be out before these phones are even released with Android 4.2. And then then six months later they will get the 4.3 update. Or not… They might skip 4.3 and go straight to Key Lime Pie – about six months after Key Lime Pie is available.

  8. Which one of the 3 has a soft touch rear?

    1. If the videos are anything to go by, it was the Maxx.

  9. tinyurl.com/nc6x6hg…

  10. This phone seems great. I’m really interested due to the large capacity battery. However, being in the UK, I don’t think I should hold my breath as it probably won’t make its way over here.

  11. WTB GSM unlocked variant MOTOROLA!

  12. Thanks for the VERY brief brief. How much bloatware is on it and is the bootloader encrypted? THAT’S what I want to know. Likely a bunch and yes.
