Google Now update brings new TV and Google Offers cards

Google Now cards update TV google offers

For all you Androids running Jelly Bean on your device, Google Now is adding some new cards today that might make life a little easier for couch potatoes and bargain hunters. The update — available right now in the Google Play Store — brings the addition of TV cards, giving you useful information on everything from where you’ve may have seen these actors before, to background information on their characters.

There are some caveats, however. First you’ll need your Android device and an internet connected TV registered on the same wireless network. From there you can “Listen for a TV show,” to pull up useful information while you watch. And yes, guys. Unfortunately, this is US only.

Another useful addition to Google Now are Google Offers. While you’re running around doing errands, Google Now will pull up nearby offers from stores closest to you. Now you’ll never miss out on a deal with Google Now on your phone.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. All I can see is:

“Google Now adds are here!”… well it was just a matter of time.

    1. I was so confused. I was like what are they adding? LoL!! I’m sorry, but it’s “ads”.

      1. Hopefully it’s something you can turn off. The day I start getting ads in my notification bar from Google Now that I can’t disable, is the day I will stop using Android.

        1. I’m more than sure you can. I mean you can turn off all other cards. I turned of events. It kept showing me near by stuff that I would never go to. Like restaurants and plays. LoL!!

        2. Technically, Google Offers are already sorta ads.. just useful ones. :/

      2. I fixed it for him.

        1. Using your powers for good. Now that’s a hero.

  3. TheOtherGuy got it right.

  4. If my Dish box is connected to wifi, will it work, or does it actually have to be a TV set?

  5. This update has been great, it seems to be faster and smarter, HOWEVER it screwed up my location…It will now give me cards for time to home when I am sitting in my home. It is locating me in a city 20 minutes away. Because of the location inaccuracy It also gives me the weather in that city. Has anyone else been having this issue? and if so, have you found a solution?

  6. One thing I didn’t like about this update is that once again they messed up the bluetooth settings cause now I can’t do the voice commands on my car bluetooth speaker. Hopefully they will address the issue soon. Other than that the app is great.
