Google sending mystery package to Glass Explorers — what’s inside?

google x package

It looks like Google’s being a bit generous to those who decided to spend $1,500 to be among the first to own a pair of Google Glass. Reports are flying in from several Glass Explorers with UPS accounts that shipment notifications are popping up from “GOOGLE X.” Unfortunately the shipment information did not include the weight of the package so it’s tough to say what, exactly, this could be.

We imagine it’s some sort of care package — something to say “thanks for supporting us,” or something to that effect. Could it be a t-shirt? Fancy ink pens? A commemorative prism? A fathead of the Bugdroid wearing a pair of glass?

It could be anything, and considering we’ve had three folks on our own staff hooked up with Google Glass (read our full review here) we’ll be on the lookout to see if these packages exist. If they do, you can be sure we’ll be letting you guys in on all that was packed inside.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. If it’s a check to pay you back the $1500.. I will be spinning in my grave. I had a chance to get an explorer edition but didn’t want to front the $1500.

    1. It is not a check because they are still sending explorer invites out I just signed up yesterday so i doubt they would send a check.

    2. That would be great, but a check could just fit in an envelope. You never know, could be sending a big cardboard check, Google be crazy like that.

  10. “A commemorative prism?”

An unfortunate choice of words what with current events and all.

    1. Not at all. Prism averted about a dozen terrorist attacks so in this case the government has done a commendable job.

        1. So tell me … how much weight do you attribute to the lives that have been saved? How much for 50 lives, or 3,000?

      1. +1. Since that movie had such a gaping plot hole by not explaining what they did with the box afterward, clearly this could be it. That failure to tie up the loose end ruined the whole movie! /s (big time sarcasm ended) ;-)

  16. It was delivered yesterday, right? Why haven’t we found out?

  17. It is probably these, http://www.spynethq.com/spynet-arsenal/stealth-video-glasses, Google is making comparisons to other competing products, these have my vote only $14 bucks at any WalMart.

Not only that but the article makes reference to the t-shirt.

Did you plagiarize this article Quentyn? Poorly?

  20. Saw a few shots on Google+ today of a sleek black metal water bottle with the Glass logo around the bottom. Wonder if that’s what was sent out.
