Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded brings creeper adventure to Android May 31st

15

I know I’m not the only one who was exposed to Leisure Suit Larry games at a young age. Even if I couldn’t fully understand some of the sexual innuendos or comprehend the level of sexual harassment Larry was putting on the ladies, I knew it was… wrong. Just wrong. But it was so fun that it didn’t matter which way my moral compass was pointing — I loved Larry! Everyone did. While I had absolutely zero desire to be a creeper myself, I was able to live vicariously through Mr. Laffer.

Unfortunately, that series eventually died after a long history, including some absolutely terrible games for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox by Sierra Wireless. Al Lowe didn’t have a hand in those games, but you’ll be happy to know that the shameless game designer is about ready to revive the memory of Larry after nearly 20 years (he regarded Love for Sail as the last real Larry game) and the love is being spread to those of us on Android.

Replay Games has announced that Leisure Suit Larry: Land of the Lounge Lizards: Reloaded will be headed to Android May 31st for $9.99. This was following a successful Kickstarter campaign that netted Replay Games over $650,000 to bring everyone’s favorite lounge hopper back to life. This release isn’t just some half-done port with outdated graphics, either.

The game has been remade from scratch, and will feature roughly the same story and charm as the original with high quality sprites and voice work. There will also be a new hottie for Larry to chase after — Miss Jasmine, a performer at the Caesar’s Phallus casino’s aquarium. Needless to say (but I’ll say it anyway), I’m excited, and if you once had a soft spot for Larry (please don’t read too much into that line) you should be, too. The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  3. I was excited until I saw the price tag. No thanks.

    1. Right, because video games should be free. Why should someone who put their time and so much effort into making a product be rewarded with money, right?

      1. Did you guys really moderate out my reply to this post? It had nothing offensive, was well thought out and well articulated…

    2. This is why there aren’t many good games for phones/tablets, and those that are use a freemium model. I’d much rather pay $10 for a complete game, than free or $0.99 for a game that is crippled unless you pay more money in-game.

  4. I am so old I remember Larry on my old Apple and it was TEXT BASED. This looks to be great.

  5. Wait, so they raise the money to make the game on Kickstarter, and then still want to charge $10 for the game? Lame.

    1. People who pledged on Kickstarter will still get the game depending on which tier they got. They certainly won’t be paying extra. It’s just those of us who haven’t pledged.

  6. So $10 a game and people paid them $655000 to remake it. Wow…a sucker born every minute!

  7. That was one of the best Kickstarter videos I’ve ever seen.

  8. I used to play this off a floppy disk under DOS…..

  9. Reminds me of the hours of game play on my Atari ST.

  10. LSL 1-3 are what sparked my love of adventure games. I may pick this up for nostalgic purposes if it stays close to the original.

  11. Was one of the people who kickstarted this. Can’t wait for them to email me out my product key for this game on PC. Also getting a t-shirt and some other bonuses too due to how much I gave.
