LG’s May 1st NYC event is definitely for the Optimus G Pro

13

Last week, we received an invitation to an LG event in New York City where we were invited to “Share the Genius.” The art on the invitation featured a dimly lit microphone leading us to believe that music would be involved somehow, and now LG is ready to share the full details of the affair. The company has confirmed that they would be showing off the LG Optimus G Pro.

We’ve already gotten a look at this device back at Mobile World Congress, and folks in parts of Asia have had a chance to own it for quite some time. While this United States event doesn’t really confirm the device will be coming to the states just yet, we can only imagine that’s what LG is getting ready to drop on us. LG will share the stage with indie music group Atlas Genius.

We’re not sure if it will be quite as elaborate as the show Samsung put on for its Galaxy S4, but it sounds pretty cool regardless. We’ll be heading to New York to bring you guys live coverage of everything being shown off so don’t forget to keep Phandroid in mind when you’re looking for details about the happenings on May 1st. Do yourself a favor and watch our LG Optimus G Pro hands-on if you’re wondering what to expect from the device if (or when) it ever launches here in the United States and other parts of the world.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  4. Ya I hope this phone comes to Sprint also

  5. I’m waiting to try this phone out in my hand but my next phone upgrade with either be this phone or the Note 3. The specs on this phone look pretty nice though!

    1. I’d probably go Note 3, but dunno if I can wait. I’m not a Samsung fan, but I’m concerned about the lack of community that has built around LG yet.. Which is understandable because their phones sucked for so long.

  6. Snapdragon S4 Pro or 600 or 800?

  7. If it was packing the Snapdragon 800 wouldn’t we know it by now?

    1. LOL. G2.. though the Tegra 4 is more powerful than the S800, wonder when the T4 hits production in products

  8. I really like LG’s UI. I know that it’s really stupid of me to want a phone just because it has a really cool lock screen, but damn if the Optimus G doesn’t have one of the coolest lock screens ever.

  9. Yes!! Now if LG would give us a chance to buy an unlocked version like almost every other manufacturer is doing. It would even be nice to get the choice between the 5 inch and 5.5 inch models. Personally I am getting the bigger model– if that’s what is going to be offered.

    1. The 5′ model is Japan only, because of Japanese regulations on mobile phones, like being waterproof etc.

      1. Nice bit of info, I did not know that.
