Dropbox gets facelift on Desktop, brings real-time shared folder notifications to Android

5

Dropbox has dropped (teehee) some nice news today. The biggest will come for those of you who enjoy Dropbox life on the desktop, as the company has redesigned its PC and Mac apps with some exciting new features. A quick rundown for you: it’s easier to accept invitations to shared folders, see links or albums people have shared with you, and gives you a closer look at what’s changing in your Dropbox minute-to-minute. Users also get real-time notifications whenever something is shared with them.

That last bit will also benefit us Android users as the Android app will also exhibit similar behavior. Alongside that, today’s app update brings support for the Portuguese language and more general bug fixes and improvements that you likely won’t notice in the foreground. Update all your apps right here and here, and start enjoying your new Dropbox experience right away.

  1. Dropbox 2GB? No thanks. I got 50GB from Box. no efforts. Box standard 5GB, if you get an invitation to sign up from someone who has 50GB you’ll get 50GB too. A few weeks ago, this blog even posted a link for anyone to sign up to Box and get 50GB immediately.

    1. yeah, 2gb is nothing-I could fill that without trying. The 50gb on Box is nice…I got my 50gb back a while go when they were running an android promotion.

    2. except box have file size limit, and it suck to use for collaborate folder.

      1. You are joking right? Box file size limit is 250MB for free account. If you really need to store personal file that big, there are splitter utilities or using compression tool spanning on several volumes.

Dropbox with its ridiculous 2GB, has no file size limit ?!! LoL ?!?! The entire capacity itself is already the limit. The Dropbox referral procedure to increase the capacity is really hard. Their tech support are not nice. They deny referrals between family members (termed suspicious). In anyway, I recommend my acquaintance to go with Box.

Some files photostop/flash project I work with get over 250MB, and I also use the cloud for programs that I need to run on multiply computers. so Yeah 250MB is a problem.

At the moment I have 31GB free storage on dropbox, so…

Yeah I haven’t used that, you get free Gb when they do beta, or if you try using their instant upload on android or iOS you will get to 5GB. Plus since I’m a student I can be part of “space race” and get a something around 25GB free space while I’m studying.

BOX sync client is also pretty disappointing together with its web client and app, so there is also that. Box might be good for something like backup, but for use of something else it falls behind competition :-/
