Is this a white Nexus 4?

46

With the regular Nexus 4 finally back and plentiful in the Google Play Store we’re a little bit beyond color preferences, but if you were waiting on a white edition of this phone to come out then you might be in luck. More evidence has surfaced suggesting Google will look to introduce a white version of the elusive handset sometime soon.

A photo of the device in the wild doesn’t do much to excite us — after all, it’s just a Nexus 4 from the other side of the color spectrum — but there it is anyway. PhoneArena, the outlet responsible for the leak, says the device was shot with an LG Optimus G. That little details seems to suggest that an LG employee took the photo of the device. It’s not outside the realm of possibility, but either way this information should be treated as little more than circumstantial.

The phone was originally rumored to be coming out after Carphone Warehouse accidentally published renders of the device in white way back in November. We pondered whether or not the UK-based retailer would bring it out soon, but haven’t heard anything since then. We imagine it took so long to bring this new color option out because of LG and Google’s recent troubles in trying to fill orders, but if today’s widespread availability of the Nexus 4 is any indication then it looks like LG could finally have the time to create this alternate option.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. All companies need to launch all color options at once, all storage models at once, and the accessories. So unorganized. And they should of made the sparkle look have black sparkles. That would’ve been very sexy for a phone. White sparkles on a white toned back won’t really appeal to me.

  2. It’s MUCH better in black.

*cue the comments saying “No the white is so much better!”*

    1. No white is much better!

  3. So what… Show me the regular N4 still in stock two days from now… Now, THAT will impress me.! =P

    1. My words.

    1. Maybe they’ll leave off the glass and make it less fragile?

      1. Considering you can see the effect in the picture, I doubt it ;)

    2. YOU’RE RIGHT…IT PROBABLY WON’T HAVE THAT SAME EFFECT AS IN BLACK.

      1. OH MY GOD I TOTALLY AGREE THAT WRITING IN CAPS IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN WRITING PROPERLY!

  6. Maybe the geniuses at Google could stop messing around with this garbage and join 2011 and making a f***ing LTE phone for Verizon and Sprint customers.

    1. galaxy nexus or “Motorola x”

    2. So they can turn around and say they can’t use of their own secure element Google has enough money to not have to sell to those butt holes

    3. You guys had your chances and messed them up no nexus love for you guys.

  7. Um…? How does the front look? I hate phones that have a white back and black front. Then cases defeat the purposes of trying to get the white one. And that color tone just always looks weird to me. I don’t think I’d be able to grow into it.

    1. LG always makes the bezels match the rest of their devices. If true, it should be white.

      1. The white Optimus G has a black front, so I assume the white Nexus 4 will do as well.

      2. But Google doesn’t. Kinda like that screenshot from the Verge video…..mmmmhmmmmmmm

  8. It actually looks cheaper than it being in black

  9. Probably just a special run for Google I/O like the White Nexus 7’s were last year.

  10. Weird… It hasn’t even been announced and already they’re having manufacturing issues.

  11. This is looking pretty nice…. I might have to pick one up if it ever launches. You can never have too many phones :-)

    1. Yes you can. Think about your needlessly huge carbon footprint you selfish oaf.

      1. Stop your crying hippie, I recycle. Now go back to your tofu and tree hugging and talk to someone who cares about your opinion.

        1. Whoaaaa….. you reeeeecycle. Guess that makes it OK to be a big fat ‘merikan over-consumer then

          1. Please do me and everyone else a favor stfu and go troll somewhere else.

          2. Everybody else is already gone, kid. OLD ARTICLE.

            Now…… smell *this*

          3. *puts hand up slowly from the back of the room*
            I’m still here…

        2. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. In that order.

          Sorry, couldn’t resist.

  12. Lol, no thanks. I love my black N4.

  13. How can they even think about making another color when they cant even make enough of the regular ones.

  16. Isn’t the camera on the nexus 4 below the flash? Not above it like in the picture?

    1. I just checked mine and it’s just like the one in the picture.

  17. I will be getting the white one soon

  18. White phones are sexy.

  19. All this worry about color makes me wonder if y’all need to go back to the rotten fruit for it’s ‘style’ . . .

    1. Ummm… phone color choices have been around since… well, pretty much once telephones became a household standard.

So how’s about you pull that pickle out and relax?

  20. it has a black front so I dont think it looks good. Needs a white front to go with it
