Verizon Galaxy Nexus Being Offered For $230 Off-Contract [Deals]

Well, isn’t this one helluva deal. If you, or someone you know, is on Verizon and currently in the market for a new smartphone, you could do a whole lot worse than the Galaxy Nexus. Right now “old reliable” is being offered up on Verizon Wireless for $230 OFF-contract.

That’s right, but there is one catch. The units being sold at this heavily discounted price are “certified pre-owned/refurbished” units. But no worries, these devices come with the peace of mind knowing they’ve passed through 100+ quality checkpoints and are backed with a full 1 year warranty. Something goes wrong during the first year — Verizon will replace it with a “comparable unit.” Just don’t got complaining about battery life or a wonky LTE connection, apparently those are just features found in the Verizon version of the Galaxy Nexus.

We all have that one friend with a device that looks like it should be on life support. Now nobody should have an excuse to upgrade, and experience the wonderful world of Jelly Bean.

Damn good deal! But no microsd slot, no thank you!

      That’s where I’m at.
      My content, my way.

        “My content, my way”

I like that! I think that’s going to be my response from now on whenever someone says that there is no need for expandable storage or that 16GB are “more than enough”

    • molomolo

      It’s 32GB – more than enough.

      • domatau

i still don’t understand why the gsm version is crippled to 16gb.

        • smithers85

          cost.

And then you get a new phone and realize how much of a pain it is to transfer everything over to a new phone without it.

        • No_Nickname90

Not very hard since most of your stuff is in the cloud anyways. LoL!! Like I really need the videos I recorded to be on the phone. =.P

I’m not going through that pain again.

Definitely a deal. I’d jump on it especially if u didn’t want to renew your contract and keep your unlimited

Exactly what I plan to do.

  • johnny989

I got a used Nexus off of ebay last month for the same price. It’s in fair shape and doesn’t have a warranty. I wish I would have waited a month… son of a ….

    • bob

EBay guarantees you can return inside 30 days with buyer protection. Under 30 days?

      • No_Nickname90

But what if the seller had “No returns accepted”?

        • bob

Doesn’t matter… Ebay buyer protection supersedes any conditions the buyer puts on their listing. I’m an eBay Top Rated seller and Powerseller. Trust me you learn very fast how much disclosure and conditions don’t matter on ebay.

          • No_Nickname90

Thank you. I shall keep that in mind.

          • Guest

Buyer protection is what it states, buyer protection. If you have remorse of buying something it is not buyer protection. There is a reason ebay asks you to list if the item is returnable. If there is nothing wrong with the item and it arrived as described, you can’t just change your mind and return it if the original listing said otherwise. Ebay has to approve it, unless someone wants to lie about the situation, thats a different story.

I think I might get this for my wife, hold on to her upgrade a little longer and then use her upgrade for myself when we start seeing the newer devices in the next few months (hopefully!) =)

      You dog, you.. :p

  • BIGshane123456

beware though… I went through 3 of these “certified pre-owned devices” 3 months ago on my gnex when it completely died one day. 1st one came with a non working ear speaker, 2nd had problems with the screen, and the 3rd one had lines all through the display. Finally got a decent one… but that’s what you run into I guess.

  • cynicist

Thanks for ruining the resale value on my phone! So glad that I’m leaving verizon soon…

    • No_Nickname90

This phone is still going for about $200-$250 on Craigslist. I don’t know what you’re talking about or where you’ve been. And yes it’s the Verizon version.

      • cynicist

Do you really think it will continue to sell that high now that Verizon is offering them for $230 with a one year warranty and no contract? That’s my point.

        • No_Nickname90

You do have a good point. They’re still this high now, but yea. Why would I want to risk buying it off the streets when I can get it that cheap with warranty at a store. Hmm…

  • abc

Does Verizon have separate cheaper no-contract bring your own device voice and data plans the way T-mobile does?

    • http://twitter.com/gamercore Chris Chavez

They do not. Not sure why, but that’s just how they roll.. =/

  • phinn

Awesome deal but since it’s pre owned does that mean it comes with certified Amoled burn-in I keep hearing long term Amoled users talk about?

    • No_Nickname90

These are just things you have to deal with when buying used. Like getting a used car. You will be fixing up the things that are designed to wear out after 100,000+ miles. Grr!! >=.[

  • JulianZHuang

    Not worth it.

  • Michael Gomez

    “Data pack required”

    • No_Nickname90

Oh really? Didn’t expect that, seeing it’s a smartphone and all. LoL!!

I just destroyed my Gnex’s screen today.. I am torn between buying a $180 new assembly, buying a new (used) Gnex, or wait out for the Note 2/ DLX

  • Larizard

i hope they also give out deals for the extended battery. I’m in the market for one, and don’t feel like spending $25 on it. :/

  • GrigorDimitrov

Good deal for an amazing phone.

  • Chris S

I have a RAZR Maxx at the moment, can I switch between this phone and my phone by just switching the LTE SIM? Or do I need to activate it through VZW? I want to be able to switch between phones with ease.

Reposting this: These are CLNR devices, I would STRONGLY advise against purchasing these.

The Verizon Galaxy Nexus has a lot of quality issues with the LTE Radio and screen quality. I personally was sent SEVEN of these refurbished devices, each with it’s own issue(s). Verizon’s quality control is terrible for their refurbs in addition to the known problems I listed. I really wanted to love this phone, but trust me on this.

If you’re set on wanting a GNex I would advise you switch to GSM.

I found this thread that I had bookmarked regarding the CLNR Nexus. If you don’t believe me at least read what others had to say. http://rootzwiki.com/topic/29765-verizon-certified-like-new-replacementis-it-worth-it/

I ordered one today, but it was a bugger getting them to treat it as a direct purchase other than an upgrade…had to keep pushing them.
